Veritas Church Leadership

Pastor Justin Whitcomb

Justin is the husband of his lovely wife Kaitlyn and the proud father of his two children, Judah and Joanna. Justin grew up in a Christian home where his parents faithfully discipled him and he gave his life to the Lord at a young age. He was most recently the Discipleship Pastor at Phos Church before answering the call to be the Lead Pastor of Veritas Bible Church.

Pastor Justin Whitcomb has earned a Bachelor of Science in Strategic Leadership from Rochester Christian University, his Master of Theological Studies in preaching and pastoral ministry from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and is completing his Master of Divinity also from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

The prayer of his heart is to see people transformed by the power of the truth of the gospel.

Bruce Heckert

Bruce and his wife Mary Lynn have three children and 7 grandchildren with 2 on the way. Bruce was raised in rural Ohio and moved to Michigan after serving in the army out of high school. Soon after this, he rededicated his life to Christ and became a true follower of Jesus.

Bruce retired from Beaumont Health as a Biomed Tech and enjoys motorcycling, watching football, and spending time with his family and church family.

His passion is to know and better serve his Savior Jesus Christ and the people of Veritas Bible Church.

Jerry Gaughan

Jerry is married to Bonnie and has two children Patrick and Ashley who have two stepbrothers, Ryan and Gavin, who he loves as much as his own two children. He retired from Controlled Power Company / Trystar after 36 years. Jerry grew up without God in his life for his first 35 years – then came to Warren Community Church in 1997 where he met Rev. James Thompson, who led him in accepting the Lord’s gift of salvation. Jerry started serving the church by teaching Sunday school, then became the head trustee in 2003. As he learned about ministry, he came across I Corinthians 12:28, which became his mission statement for serving the church. He became the treasurer in 2005, still serving in that capacity 20 years later & has also served as the treasurer for the Alliance of Warren Evangelicals since 2010, and treasurer of the Detroit Metro District of the Missionary Church Michigan Region since 2016. He has served as an elder for Veritas Bible Church since August 2024.
